Neighborhood News..

Blues on the Ridge-You have probably noticed the sign up front reminding you of the second annual "Blues on the Ridge" which will be held this Saturday night beginning at 6:00 at the end of Winding Creek. Bring your family, a chair and food and drink for this great summer event featuring the Joel Brown Band. Admission is free for HOA members. Guests and nonmembers are $5.00. We had a great crowd last year and hope to have another one this year. This is a great way to meet your neighbors. We want to especially invite those residents from the first 3 sections of the neighborhood to come to this event. We have not had as much participation from this area of the neighborhood in the last couple of years and this event is a great way to get to know your new neighbors in the back.

Changes to Restrictions-We will also have the sheets to sign the changes to the restrictions on that night so please come by and sign, even if you are unable to stay for the show.

HOA Dues-We also want to remind everyone, if you have not paid your HOA dues, they are overdue and need to be paid to P.O. Box 171, Clarksville, TN 37041, as soon as possible.

Street Parking-We have also had numerous complaints about residents parking on the street. Please do not park your vehicle on the street. It is a violation of the restrictions and more importantly, it is unsafe for children riding bikes, walkers and runners. Please park in driveways only. For those who live on Kensington there is an additional reason to park only in driveways. The school system has actually stopped picking up children at that location due to the number of cars parked on the street. The children have to walk down Glenraven to get on a bus because the bus is unable to maneuver around the vehicles.

Campers and Boats-Please remember that the restrictions require all campers and large boats to be kept in a separate building or your garage. They cannot be stored in driveways or the road. I know this is an inconvenience especially during this time of year, and we are trying to change some of the restrictions to ease that burden, but please keep in mind that the restrictions are in place to make sure our neighborhood remains one of the best places to live in Clarksville.

Front Entrance Landscaping-We are in the final stages of getting bids for redoing the landscaping at the entrance. Most of the plants are still healthy, but look old and dated. This will be changing soon!

Street Lights-A new street light has been ordered for the first half of Fieldcrest, which was one of the few remaining really dark areas of the neighborhood at night, and a replacement street light will soon be installed on the back side of Iron Wood Circle to replace the missing one (the victim of a mysterious hit and run with a large truck).

Mosquito Spraying-We just had our second neighborhood mosquito spraying of the summer and we will have one more round later in the summer to make sure we can all continue to enjoy our decks.

Remember to check back often for other news!

Front Entrance Improvement

Thanks to Steve Tronnes and the Beautification Committee for painting the front entrance sign so that it is much more visible.
Stay tuned for other improvements to the front entrance. If you would like to join the Beautification Committee or have suggestions for the front entrance, e-mail the HOA at hoasouthridge@gmail.com . We are open to productive suggestions as to the type of plants, flowers, etc.
NOTE: The comments section is open to all, but an anonymous comment will not allow any follow up and usually will not be posted. We'd like to follow up, so leave your name or e-mail the HOA. Thanks.

South Ridge Yard of the Month Award!

The South Ridge Homeowner’s Association strives to improve the quality of living and appearance of our neighborhood. We encourage residents to take pride in their homes and our community. We want to recognize those residents who excel in maintaining their yards in such a way that they contribute to the overall curb appeal of the entire neighborhood. Yards of the month are awarded at the beginning of the months of May through August. In keeping with the spirit of the holidays, we will also recognize a house in both October and December that displays the most festive decorations.

Contest Guidelines:

1. Criteria:
a. Yard Maintenance
1. Healthy yard, neatly mowed and edged
2. Pruned and trimmed shrubs and trees
3. Healthy plants
4. Minimum weeds in flower beds
5. Yard free of debris and clutter

b. Design and Landscaping
1. Creative, unique curb appeal
2. Overall aesthetic appeal

2. One home per month will be selected during the months of May through August.

3. One home will be selected during the months of October and December around the 10th of the month. These selected homes will display the most festive, holiday décor for the month of their selection.

4. Each yard will be limited to winning the award only once in any calendar year.

5. Only the front yards, as viewed from the street, will be judged. Backyards will not be considered.

6. Only authentic plants will be considered, no artificial plants.

7. Current Board Members and voting members of the Beautification Committee are not eligible.

8. Members of the South Ridge Beautification Committee will judge, determine, and select the Yard of the Month winners prior to the award being given.

9. All winners must be members of the HOA with dues paid current.

10. While an individual’s home is being recognized as South Ridge’s “Yard of the Month”, they are expected to maintain their yard in the same manner that allowed them to win the title.

11. The Yard of the Month sign will be placed in the winning yard and is to remain in the yard for the entire month.

12. In the event they are selected, a homeowner may elect to refrain from participation.

13. Judges' decisions are final.

14. Winners will be recognized on the HOA website.

ATT Internet Update from VP Kristen Shinn

I just spoke with Tony Johnson again at A T & T today. Everything will be in place for our internet by May 15th. He told me that they will come install one piece of equipment in our neighborhood, which will allow internet for everyone within a 3-mile radius. They will not need to dig or install anything at each home. He told me that there will be enough internet for about 198 homes, which is basically our whole neighborhood. They are giving South Ridge first dibs on internet and are therefore taking pre-orders. If you have already emailed me your information, I have already passed it on to A T & T and I do not need for you to do anything else. I need for anyone else in the entire neighborhood who would like A T & T to email me asap their name, address, and phone number. Once the internet is up and running, then it will be open to anyone within a 3-mile radius, whether or not they live in South Ridge. Even if you think you might be interested, but aren't sure, please let me know.

If you want more information, visit: www.att.com and click on internet/ dsl. It will show you the 4 different speeds they offer, along with prices. You will get a discount if you bundle it with your A T & T home phone service. Once you sign up, no payment will be due until the internet is up and running. A T & T will send a modem to your home via the mail and you will set everything up yourself. Right now, A T & T is offering a special for fast access dsl, at any of their speeds for $24.95 a month for a year, after that it will go to regular price, which for their highest speed for dsl extreme 6.0 is $42.95 a month, with a discount if you bundle it with your home phone service. The lower speeds vary in price from $19.95 a month for dsl lite, $32.95 a month for dsl ultra, and $37.95 for dsl extreme. Their internet plans include unlimited monthly usage and you don't have to worry about how much you upload or download each month!

Please let me know if you are interested! After May 15th, anyone within a 3-mile radius of our neighborhood will be able to sign up! Thanks and have a great day!

New Officers

The HOA elections were held at the annual meeting. At the meeting Chris Pittman was elected President, Kristen Shinn was elected Vice President, Anna Blake was elected Treasurer and Steve Tronnes was elected Secretary. We all look forward to working with you over the next two years. We will be meeting in the next week to begin planning some spring activities and start formulating a plan for installing at least one new streetlight very soon.

I want to thank Jen, Alison and Ray for their hard work over the last two years. They did a great job for our subdivision.

If you have questions, please feel free to e-mail us and be sure to check the blog often as that is the best way to get information out.

We look forward to serving you as your new officers.

Annual Meeting April 6

Our annual meeting will be Tuesday, April 6th at 6:30 pm at nearby McAdoo Creek Presbyterian Church (from the South Ridge Entrance, turn right on HWY 12 and it is about 1/4 mile down the road on the right).

We will be discussing any neighborhood issues, as well as voting for new officers. I strongly urge everyone attend.

Also, below is an email I received from Kristen Shinn about ATT internet in the back of South Ridge. If you are interested, please send her the needed information to her email address listed below.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Hello Jennifer,
Would you please forward this email regarding A T & T internet? I spoke to Mr. Johnson at A T & T this morning. Engineering is complete and A T & T has ordered the necessary equipment to install internet in the back of our subdivision. They are now waiting for the equipment to arrive. They are still estimating that everything should be ready by the end of March or the beginning of April. I will keep everyone updated.
If you are planning to switch to or use A T & T high speed internet, I need for you to email me at kristented@gmail.com Please email me your name, address, and phone number. Mr. Johnson has asked me to compile a list of names to send to him, so he can set it up to have his business office contact us as soon as we are internet-ready. They will call you and set everything up. I really need to receive these emails from you all as soon as possible, so I can send them to him.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks so much!

Sincerely,

Kristen Shinn
